About me
- Can I live with other dogs? Potentially - Before arriving to the rescue, Tony previously lived with a Staffordshire Bull Terrier X Labrador for five years. We believe he may adapt well to living with a dog of similar size and temperament.
- Can I live with teenagers? Yes - Tony is suitable to live with children over the age of 18.
- Can I live with young children? No - Tony is not suitable for a home with young children, as he has no prior experience living with them. He can occasionally bark and lunge at children during on-lead walks due to his unfamiliarity with their presence. Tony would thrive in an adult-only household with individuals who have experience with Collies.
- Do I have any medical issues? No - Tony has undergone a comprehensive health check at the vets since joining us, and we are pleased to report that no concerns have been identified.
- Can I live with cats? No - If given the opportunity, Tony will chase a cat as he believes it's a game!
- Am I good on the lead? Yes - Tony is currently undergoing training to address his traffic reactivity. He may exhibit wariness towards traffic and occasionally bark and lunge at vehicles, particularly when their engines are running. Interestingly, he is comfortable jumping into the back of a vehicle to settle into a crate for off-site adventures and travels very well once inside. Potential adopters will need to collaborate closely with the rescue to continue his reactivity training. He is making significant progress and it is important to maintain this momentum to prevent any regression.
Tony, our charming Collie, has been on the lookout for his forever home since June 29th 2024. After nearly a year in our care, it’s truly astonishing that this wonderful boy has yet to be adopted.
As a Collie, Tony possesses remarkable training potential and is incredibly eager to learn. He even barks at his handlers if they don’t engage him in training sessions during field time! His enthusiasm is partly driven by his favourite reward – cheese!
Tony is an exceptionally bright dog with so much potential. He arrived at the rescue with his partner in crime, Scooby, a Staffy-Labrador mix, who was adopted soon after their arrival. Unfortunately, this left Tony still searching for his forever family. Both dogs were brought to us when their owners moved overseas and were unable to take them along. It’s truly heart-breaking to see Tony still waiting.
This playful boy adores cuddly toys and loves a game of fetch, as well as a spirited game of tug-of-war! He also has a quirky obsession with water, making a beeline for the pools in our fields during this time of year. After he’s done playing, there often won’t be a drop left in the pool due to his enthusiastic digging! Additionally, he requires a special water bowl in his kennel, or that too will end up empty.
Tony is incredibly special to us and is in need of a stable home as soon as possible. He thrives on organization and a consistent routine, making him an ideal match for a family that values structure in their daily lives.
If you believe you could be the perfect fit for this wonderful boy, please consider giving Tony the loving home he deserves!
