About me
- Can I live with other dogs? Potentially - Dobby has mixed with a Staff members Spaniel (Ginny) whilst in our care. He may thrive in a home environment with another dog that shares a similar temperament to his.
- Can I live with teenagers? Yes
- Can I live with young children? No - Dobby has come from a home with two young children (3 & 6 years of age) Unfortunately, he was not comfortable in that environment, which is the reason for his rehoming to the Sanctuary. For his well-being, Dobby would thrive in an adult-only household with children aged 16 and older. A quiet, calm environment would be ideal for him.
- Do I have any medical issues? No - Dobby has undergone a comprehensive health check at the vets since joining us, and we are pleased to report that no concerns have been identified.
- Can I live with cats? No - Dobby has not previously lived with a cat, therefore he would be best suited to a home without one. He has shown a reactive response to our on-site farm cat, exhibiting pulling and barking on the lead in an attempt to reach her.
- Am I good on the lead? Yes - Dobby is excellent on the lead. He enjoys leisurely walks and takes his time to explore his surroundings, often stopping to sniff along the way. Given his small stature as a Dachshund, he prefers to move at his own comfortable pace.
Dobby is an adorable boy who quickly warms up to people, especially female staff and volunteers. While he does eventually bond with male humans, it may take him a bit longer to feel comfortable around them.
Dobby is quite the cuddler and thrives on affection, often seeking a warm lap for endless snuggles. If you’re in search of a devoted Dachshund who forms strong connections and offers unwavering loyalty, Dobby is the perfect companion for you.
It’s important to note that Dobby can be a bit nervous at times. This is understandable, as he has experienced three different homes since birth and now finds himself in rescue. He desperately needs stability and a nurturing environment to help him thrive.
Dobby has formed a particularly close bond with his favourite staff member, Katie, developing trust within just a few hours of meeting her. When he first arrived, he wouldn’t eat on his own unless Katie was there to hand-feed him, highlighting his sensitive nature.
This sweet boy requires gentle nurturing and constant attention to feel secure. If you believe you can provide the loving and stable home that Dobby truly deserves, we would love to hear from you!
