About me
- Can I live with other dogs? Potentially - Both dogs have successfully interacted with a Labrador and two Spaniels at the sanctuary without any issues. They may be suitable for a home with another dog that shares a similar, calm temperament. Previously, they lived with three other dogs: a Chihuahua, a Jack Chi and a French Bulldog. The owner reported that Edna and Elsie were not getting along with the Jack Chi and with the French Bulldog being only 10 months old, she was too boisterous and playful for them. Consequently, the owner decided to surrender Edna and Elsie to our care, as she felt it was no longer fair to all of the dogs involved.
- Can I live with teenagers? Yes
- Can I live with young children? Potentially - Edna and Elsie have not lived with children but they have interacted with visiting children in the previous home without any issues. Given their ages and the significant changes they have experienced in their lives, we recommend that they be placed in a home with children aged 15 years and older. This will ensure a more suitable and stable environment for them.
- Do I have any medical issues? No - Both Edna and Elsie have received comprehensive health checks from a vet. Notably, Edna underwent a successful surgical procedure on the 9th April to remove a polyp from her rear end, the surgery yielded positive results.
- Can I live with cats? Potentially
- Am I good on the lead? Yes - As Chihuahuas, both dogs exhibit excellent behaviour on the lead. They could easily be walked on a splitter. Given their small stature, they tend to walk at their own pace. However, potential adopters should be aware that they can easily get underfoot, presenting a possible trip hazard. It is important to remain vigilant during walks to ensure their safety, particularly with Edna, who is smaller than Elsie.
Edna and Elsie are a bonded pair of Chihuahuas in search of a new home following the passing of their previous owner. In their time of need, a compassionate individual involved stepped in to care for them, ensuring they remained together during this difficult transition.
About Edna & Elsie:
– Edna (Fawn – Daughter): Bursting with confidence, Edna adores belly rubs and has a knack for making friends with anyone willing to give her a cuddle. Her playful spirit and affectionate nature make her a joy to be around.
– Elsie (Tri Colour – Mother): While Elsie has a more reserved temperament, she is incredibly devoted to her daughter, Edna. She can be cautious when meeting new people, particularly men but with patience, she warms up and reveals her sweet personality. Once comfortable, both dogs are eager for attention and affection.
Though both Edna and Elsie have undergone dental work and are missing several teeth, this only adds to their charm. Edna’s tongue often peeks out and she playfully mouths your hands when it’s time to put on her harness, showering you with slobbery kisses in the process.
These delightful dogs are looking for a retirement home where they can enjoy leisurely walks and regular visits to a coffee shop for a puppuccino. Their absolute favourite snack is cheese, which they adore more than anything else.
If you’re looking to welcome two loving companions into your home, Edna and Elsie would be the perfect addition. They are eager to share their lives with someone who will provide them with the love and care they deserve in these special twilight years.
