Flumbo
URGENT FOSTER HOME NEEDED
About me
- Can I live with other dogs? No - Flumbo has met a Staff members Spaniel whilst in our care. Introductions were positive from both sides but due to Flumbo's needs, in requiring a handler who can dedicate 100% of their time to him, he would be best suited to being the only pet within the household.
- Can I live with teenagers? No
- Can I live with young children? No - Flumbo requires an adult only home - this is to ensure that the property is as calm & as peaceful as possible.
- Do I have any medical issues? Potentially - Awaiting medical
- Can I live with cats? No - Flumbo has never lived with a cat before.
- Am I good on the lead? Potentially - Due to how nervous Flumbo is at the moment, he has not had the opportunity yet to go on an off site lead walk. We are currently using our enclosed fields at the Sanctuary to let him have some much needed off lead time. Once a strong bond with his handler has been made & his stress levels are lower, he can venture out a little further, when he is ready. The Sanctuary's Dog Trainer - Gary Mathlin will work closely with Flumbo's adopter or fosterer in regard to the correct & best procedures for dog walking.
Flumbo is a gorgeous 13 month old, Labrador X Collie.
Flumbo lived quite a sheltered life before he arrived to All Creatures & is sadly not adjusting well to kennel life.
This young pup is severely lacking in confidence & is desperately trying to bridge a bond with his carers. He thrives on attention & reassurance from his favourite people. Naturally, within a kennel environment, there is only so much time his handlers can dedicate too him, this is why he a prime candidate for a foster home.
We are looking for a dedicated individual, who can work closely with the Sanctuary to slowly bring down his stress levels. The individual will need previous experience of decompression with a stressed or nervous dog of this size & build. We want to allow Flumbo to come around naturally, in his own time without being rushed or forced.
He may show his true personality within a week, or, it could even take a few months. From what we have seen so far, he is keen to learn at his own pace. He currently knows sit, paw & is ever so gentle at taking treats. His favourite’s are cheese & hotdog sausages!
Patience with this boy is key & his space bubble must be respected.
We are looking for fairly local individuals to adopt or foster, in order to work closely with the Rescue to cater to his needs.
Flumbo needs a calm, peaceful home where his carers are home for most of the day.
